Biomedical Engineering Trainee
Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, Havana, Cuba
2007 – 2008
Received my first theoretical and practical work training as a trainee, focused on the ophthalmology specialty at the hospital's request. Took part in installing high-technology ophthalmology equipment from various manufacturers — slit lamps, refraction units, auto refracto-keratometers, ophthalmic ultrasound, photodisruption laser, perimeters, and a retinal tomographer — to replace nearly all of the equipment at the hospital's ophthalmology clinic, which had been damaged by flooding after a hurricane. Trained on the facility's excimer laser refractive surgery equipment, which was not affected by the flood, as it was located on higher ground than the other rooms.
